I am Phillip J. Burno and I became the Senior Pastor for WLA Living Word Christian Center in January 2020.

I was born in Palo Alto, California, and later my family relocated to Colorado.  I took up the “Family trade” but my first love was always music.  The electrical trade eventually took me to Alaska where I met and married my wife “Kit”.  In 1984, I moved to Los Angeles attending music school and worked in the music industry. My wife & I had our first of three daughters in May 1987.

In the fall of 1987, God called me to salvation through Jesus Christ and my life was never the same.   God, birthed in me, a hunger for His Word that changed my perspective on everything to include my family and music.

We joined WLA Living Word Christian Center in 2000.  Since then, I have served in leadership positions in the AV Department and as a Youth Leader, Worship Leader, Deacon and Board of Directors.  We have actively ministered at the Youth Detention facilities in LA County – Department of Probation, as well as to the homeless community of Los Angeles through the Los Angeles Mission.

In 2004, God expanded my horizons yet again as I experienced my first missionary trip to Zimbabwe, Africa.  My heart has been toward the Great Commission ever since.
